Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year is just not celebrated in China, but is also celebrated in other parts of the world, especially where there is a large Chinese Community.

Currently the San Francisco Chinese New Year Festival and Parade event is held for approximately two weeks from the first day of the Chinese New Year to the Chinese Lantern Festival and it includes a typical American parade.
Nowhere in the world will you see a lunar new year parade with more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, exploding firecrackers.
As many as 600,000 firecrackers will go of to celebrate the Chinese New Year during the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco.
The festival also incorporates two fairs, the Chinese New Year Flower Fair and Chinatown Community Street Fair.

The San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade will take place from 6 – 8 pm local time.
Over 100 units will participate in the Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Parade. A San Francisco tradition since just after the Gold Rush, the parade continues to delight and entertain the many hundreds of thousands of people that come to watch it on the street
The parade will also feature a 200 foot long Golden Dragon manned inside by upwards of 100 puppeteers.
