Pyongyang is the capital and the largest city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, commonly known as North Korea.
Although New Year’s Eve and New year’s Day are official holidays in North Korea it was only in 2013 that the country had its first ever New Year’s fireworks display which took place in the capital city of Pyongyang.
The first ever New Year Fireworks display took place over at various locations in the capital city of Pyongyang at Kim II Sung Square, Pyongyang Indoor Stadium, April 25 House of Culture and other parts of the city.
New Year Fireworks also took place over the the Taedong River.
Expect something similar once again for the New Year 2017.
